2013-141 – POINT: Energy-Efficient Acoustic Neighbor Discovery and Spatial Gestures for Mobile Devices

This invention describes a method for enabling mobile devices to initiate an interaction with another computing device by pointing at the second device with high accuracies at distances up to three meters.Importantly, the invention includes methods to enable this to occur while using ~5X lower energy consumption than WiFi Direct and 4X lower than the latest Bluetooth 4.0 protocols.
