This invention is a new method that estimates a planar surface utilizing the automatic scanning of a handheld micromanipulator, Micron, and the geometric analysis of projected beam patterns, in order to address erroneous stereo-reconstruction in the complex eye model. Therefore, this approach can overcome problems in visual servoing in the eye, such as unreliable detection of image features due to illumination changes and optical distortion by the complex eye and imaging system.
