FIU inventors have developped a method that overcomes thedrawbacks present in current UAV-based communication systems, such as highinterference and limited resources to achieve higher capacities by introducingmulti-user (MU) – massive multiple input single output (MISO) communication. Byusing zero-forcing beamforming (ZFBF), MISO-based transmissions can reducenetwork interference with other users, and generate highly directional beamswith high gain. Improved energy efficiency can lead to longer operational timefor UAV base stations. Furthermore, with the same resources being sharedbetween multiple users, MU-MISO based transmission is able to enhance systemcapacity. Shantanu Balkundi sbalkund@fiu.edu 305-348-8061
