New Targets for Therapy (Rice)

Charlie Rice is coupling this effort with doing highly innovative work using CRISPR technology to knock out genes in the human genome to screen for those whose loss prevents infection by SARS-CoV-2. He has already identified a gene called LYE6E as a gene that?s essential for entry of the virus into cells. Charlie?s lab will also do screens that combine CRISPR with drug candidates to identify genes that might be targeted to increase the efficacy of known or candidate drugs.
