UIC-2005-030 Targeted Drug Delivery of Pain Therapeutics via Sensory Neuron Specific Markers

Promising drug carrier specifically targeting mu opioid receptor (MOR)-expressing neurons for the treatment of pain, opioid tolerance, drug addiction, and potentially other diseases. Modified dermorphin, a mu opioid ligand, that is chemically conjugated to a ligand-grafted, sterically stabilized liposome (SSL). Dermorphin-SSL exhibits receptor-mediated internalization in a MOR-expressing cell specific manner. Nelson Grihalde grihalde@otm.uic.edu 312-996-4129
