UIC-2009-021 – Determining and correcting system constants on an MR system

A generalized technique for simultaneously characterizing an MRI system delay and all eddy currents associated with a physical gradient axis is proposed. The proposed method enables a single calibration dataset to be used to compute constants that can be used to correct any MR acquisition. Existing methods (e.g., gradient mapping) for correcting for eddy currents are applicable to only a single acquisition. The technique developed allows a wide range of imaging to be completed without the need to spend considerable time computing new correction values. Jonathan Gortat jgortat@otm.uic.edu (312) 413-1643
