UIC-2013-144 – MyIDEA -Clinically Validated Tablet Based Patient Education Application

Non-adherence to medication post-stent placement can lead to thrombosis. Medicine non-adherence leads to a nine times greater risk of death within the first year of stent placement. Patient education is crucial after such critical procedures. Emerging digital patient-education tools provide flexibility and customization. My Interventional DES Education Application (MyIDEA) is a tablet-based patient-tailored educational software application that engages a patient in active learning behavior about medical adherence. MyIDEA is a self-paced educational software application that engages a patient in active learning about medication adherence. It is a low cost application designed to prevent recurring hospitalization due to non-adherence, improving patient lives and decreasing the overall cost of care.
