UIC-2019-108 – JamBot – A Robotic Microphone Positioning Device

“Recall” is the ability to reproduce the tone of a previous recording if re-recording is necessary. Traditional microphone systems for guitar/bass cabinets require the user to place the microphone on a traditional stand. Getting the “right” sound again can be a challenge. Currently, interns and junior technicians adjust the microphone stand to re-position the microphone for sound acquisition and recall. JamBot is a robotic microphone positioning device that can reposition a microphone(s) in multiple positions by means of a 5 axis robotics system. This system is mounted onto a speaker cabinet; the microphone’s position is remotely controlled. Mark Krivchenia krivchen@otm.uic.edu (312) 996-6626
